Assalammualaikum,
My name is Mohd Azireen Bin Abdull Azizis from Politeknik Kuching Sarawak, Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal section 2 (DKM S2), 05DKM13F1054, and my purpose of doing this blog is to fulfill the task BC101 Computer Application. Education in Miri
- Curtin University Sarawak - The first offshore campus of Curtin University, Western Australia, and the first foreign university campus in East Malaysia. Opened in 1999 in partnership with the Sarawak government, it serves the educational needs of local and foreign students.

Economy in Miri
Miri mainly relies on its oil and gas industry, which contributes significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Sarawak. Sarawak Shell Berhad and Petronas Carigali have their headquarters based in Miri. The city is also home to numerous local and multinational oil and gas companies, including Nippon Oil, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes,Halliburton and Petra Resources and many others. The oil and gas industry not only infuses money into the economy, but also brings in expatriates from various countries.
Tourism is another important focus of the economy. Miri has a diverse ecology and a myriad of flora and fauna species. Four national parks and a marine national park are all located near Miri. Thus, it is often seen as a hub for ecotourism and a draw for nature enthusiasts.
Miri is also a shopping destination for the neighbouring country of Brunei Darussalam,as well as nearby smaller towns like Bintulu and Limbang.
The regional airline, MASwings, has its head office at Jalan Airport in Miri.

Food in Miri

There are many good Chinese restaurants in Miri apart from those in hotels. They serve excellent Cantonese, Hakka, Teochew, Foochow cuisines. Don't forget to savour the famous 'Tutu' fresh water fish.

Interesting Places in Miri
There's plenty to do in Miri, from spelunking the Niah Caves or Mulu Caves looking at its historical beauty, to hiking the trails of Lambir National Park, to mountain biking (event) or fishing (event). For those interested in parks and gardens, there are a total of 14 such locations around Miri locale. Miri also has their share of music festivals with its International Jazz Festival held May annually.
The other interesting place of visit is the tamu market called Tamu Muhibbah. It’s open daily and is located just a stone’s throw from the Tourist Information Centre.
Yu Lan Plaza is the first all-glass high rise building in Miri. It is located in the midst of the old Miri town area, located next to the Miri Old Open Air Market. From far, Yu Lan Plaza is an easily recognizable landmark in the city both at night and day, thus the building provides an easy and quick way to regain your bearings of where you are in the city easily.
Miri offers many great places where you can enjoy food, music and interesting atmosphere at the same time. Nightlife in Northeast Sarawak is pretty much confined in Miri, whose vibrant nightlife scene offers pubs, bars, dance clubs, live music outlets and karaoke lounges to suit all tastes. There are karaoke lounges always open around within reach of major hotels in the city.
